- Anotace
This course introduces the anthropology of Indigenous peoples in South America from historical foundations to contemporary Indigenous-led approaches. It engages ethnographic, theoretical, and visual work emphasizing Indigenous epistemologies, collaboration, and decolonization. Students will analyze how Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars together reshape anthropological debates on ontology, ecology, and politics.

At the end of this course the student should be able to:
1 Trace anthropological debates in South American anthropology.
2 Recognize Indigenous methodologies and theories.
3 Analyze political, ecological, and epistemological dimensions of Indigeneity.
4 Engage critically with Indigenous film and media as anthropology.
5 Reflect on decolonial and collaborative futures for the discipline.

The course will be organised in a participative and collaborative modality, and it will mobilise diverse teaching-learning strategies:
1) studying and discussing bibliographic materials suggested in advance (one mandatory reading per week of the two suggested, additional optional readings and audiovisual suggestions will be indicated during the lectures).
2) the participation of guests (in presence and/or online), presenting specific case studies;
3) seminaries for the collective and critical reflection on core aspects of the current experiences of Indigenous people in South America.
- Způsob ověření výstupů z učení a požadavky na ukončení
The grade will be composed of three self-evaluations:
1) the active participation in the course’s meetings (30%);
2) the production of a final essay and/or audiovisual product on a specific topic of students’ choice discussed during the course (70%).
