Předpoklady
The aim of the course is to give a survey of the most important anthropological doctrines of Christian antiquity through the analysis of Patristic texts translated into English, French or German. The main problems we are focussing on are the origin and nature of the soul; the soul-body relationship; the Fall and the free will, the theory of passions; blessed man; anthropology and Christology. Main topics: antecedents in Ancient Philosophy; Philo of Alexandria; Gnostics; Greek apologists; Irenaeus of Lyons; Origen and Origenism; Tertullian and Lactantius; Gregory of Nyssa; Pelagianism; Augustine of Hippo

Dear students, first lecture will be held on 17:30 on Monday 25. February 2013. The Department for the Study of Religions is located on Gorkého Street 7 (but our shipping address is different, see above!). How to reach us: Grohova tram stop (trams No. 3, 11, 12, and 13), street Gorkého 7, go straight ahead and down the stairs, cross the yard into the building J on the right (see the map). The seat of the Department is in the 5th floor. The elevator goes to the 4th floor, then you must take the stairs up to the 5th floor.
