Cíle předmětu
The course will look at aspects of fiction and urban studies relating primarily to post-War London in the period from 1945 to 1990 but in both cases relating developments in that period to longer-term perspectives on the city's history. The aim will be to provide a comparative analysis in these respects on the way in which the psychology, sociology, politics, both imperial and post-imperial can be seen as affecting its inhabitants. Students completing the course will be asked to discuss and, in an end of term essay, analyse relevant elements of the development of a world city with an eye to its historical development and current, complex constitution.Relevant fictional texts are available through e-prezencka in the library; extract from non-fictional materials are available on ELF.
