Cíle předmětu
Methodology II builds on and consolidates students' understanding and knowledge of the basic principles involved in language learning and teaching, paying specific attention to the practical aspect of teaching and the skills introduced in UZAJ2033 ELT Methodology I. These skills are then put straight into practice as the trainees are also undertaking the course UZAJ203 - Practice teaching. In addition, teachers from secondary schools are invited to come and give a guest lecture and question and answer session to the trainees at the end of the semester.
By the end of this course the students will to able to demonstrate an understanding of:
1. The skills a teacher needs in the classroom to help learners develop their language systems (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, functions) and language skills ((listening, speaking, reading, writing), including appropriate procedures, techniques and activities to facilitate the development of the various skills and sub-skills.
2. The various sub-skills and strategies learners need help in developing in order to improve their overall competence in the language skills and systems.
3. How to plan a lesson with clear, appropriate aims and learning outcomes for language skills and systems, appropriate to the level and needs of the learners.
By the end of the course the participants should also have a sound knowledge of and be able to use terminology found in current ELT literature.
