Cíle předmětu
The primary objective of this course is to introduce students to the Bachelor's degree program in Biology and Biochemistry. It aims to familiarize them with the teaching methods, the environment of the faculty, the university, the city of Brno, and its surroundings, as well as to assist them in navigating their first semester.
Výstupy z učení
- Understand the structure and organization of the Bachelor's degree program in Biology and Biochemistry at Masaryk University. - Familiarize themselves with the academic and research environment of the Faculty of Science, including an understanding of the teaching methods employed. - Gain an overview of Masaryk University, its history, faculties, areas of focus, and international collaborations. - Acquire knowledge about the Institute of Experimental Biology, the Institute of Biochemistry, and the Institute of Botany and Zoology, including their research projects, focus areas, and research groups. - Learn about the city of Brno, the South Moravian region, its cultural, theatrical, museum, and historical landmarks, including the Mendelianum. - Understand the research landscape in the Czech Republic, including the Academy of Sciences, research institutes, and funding agencies. - Become acquainted with the nature of the Czech Republic, enhancing their appreciation for its biodiversity and natural landscapes. - Develop proficiency in English terminology specific to chemistry, biochemistry, and biology, facilitating their academic and research communication within these fields.
