The State Final Examination’s thematic focus is on gaining an in-depth knowledge of the field of inclusive and special pedagogy and pathopsychology. It further targets the following student competencies: acquiring broad knowledge and abilities from the fields of speech–language pathology and deaf education, communication and educational knowledge and ability, the ability to apply approaches to the education and upbringing of children with impaired communication ability (ICA) and hearing disabilities in their instruction, working with children and students with ICA and hearing disabilities as a speech–language therapist (master’s degree). To have the ability to support teachers when working with students with ICA and hearing disabilities in an inclusive class, to support parents of children with disabilities.
The State Final Examination from pedagogics and psychology is a proficiency test, in which the student demonstrates their knowledge of the basic pedagogical and psychological disciplines, interconnects them, integrates them into a theoretical context and infers their practical implications. Students prepare for the examination according to the established areas of study with the support of the scholarly literature (including the results of pedagogical and psychological research) and their student portfolio (lesson plan preparation, video recordings, written self-reflection, thesis paper, portfolio tasks, etc.). Emphasis is placed on the critical comprehension of expert knowledge, its mutual intersections, relating it to the student’s current teaching experience and resolving pedagogical-psychological problems in teaching practice. The pedagogics and psychology exam is awarded a single grade.
If interested, the student may also complete the State Rigorous Examination in the field of Special Pedagogy.

Rigorous thesis defence The student focuses on resolving a specific research topic, in accordance with the research focus of the department that was given accreditation for rigorous proceedings for the corresponding student programme. The rigorous thesis commonly has a scope of roughly 100 pages, of which half of the text represents the theoretical basis and the second half the research project.
