The present volume of Studia Historica Brunensia contains studies presented at a workshop held on December 5–6, 2023, at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. The workshop is part of a series of regular meetings on diplomatics from various perspectives, organized by the Department of Auxiliary Historical Sciences and Archive Studies (this was the fifth event in the series). On this occasion it was titled Arbiter, arbitrator, or compositor amicabilis: Medieval Arbitration between Diplomatics and Legal History. The workshop brought together experts from various disciplines, including legal historians, medieval historians, and scholars of diplomatics, with participants from Czechia, Germany, Austria, Poland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
