Myšlenka eugeniky a s touto ideou spojených etických teorií je stále aktuální v souasné lékaské etice. Tato práce se zabývá otázkou historického a filozofického vývoje eugeniky a eugenickými intencemi dnešní doby. Nejprve konstatuje, že eugenika je velmi starý koncept, v jejímž jádru je obsažená snaha o dosažení harmonické a stabilní spolenosti, a tak v sob nese výrazný eschatologický potenciál. Dále tvrdí, že v souasné dob je vlivná pedevším tzv. skrytá eugenika, která se spolupodílí na definování medicínských cíl. Nakonec je konstatováno, že myšlenka eugeniky je eticky podezelá, nebo pomuje hodnotu lovka jeho genetickou konstitucí.

The idea of eugenics and related ethical theories have emerged as increasingly important in contemporary medical ethics. This essay outlines a series of questions about the historical and philosophical aspects of this idea and its place in contemporary society. First it considers the fact, that idea of eugenic is a very old concept attempting to achieve a harmonic and splendid society and that this goal has an impressive eschatological potential. Next, it proves the possibility that hidden eugenics is very influential in a contemporary medicine, for example by shaping humans medical needs and goals. Finally it is suggested, that the idea of eugenics is ethically suspect, because it evaluates extant or unborn human beings by virtue of their genetic.
