One of the most important criterion which should be evaluated by the patients with the chronic wounds is their nutritional condition. There is no evidence that nurses are able to do nutriotional assesment in a properly way. In the special educational course for nurses we have been evaluated in total 126 students – nurses (knowledge concerning the nutritional assesment). Aim: To ensure the knowledge of nurses concerning the nutriotional assesment. According the results of the survey prepare „user friendly“ assesment tool for the nutriotional assesment. Methods: Questionnaire survey among 126 nurses focused on the knowledge of the nutriotional assesment by the patients with chronic wounds. Results: The most of the respondents (96 %) does not know any assesment tool of the nutritional status for the patients with chronic wounds. 100 % respondents wants to have usable assesment tool with instructions for the following wound and nutritional care (manual). There was no significant relation among the educational level, years of professional career and level of the knowledge of the respondents. Conclusions: Nutritional assesment is not common in the clinical praktice even if the malnutrtion is a big risk factor which influence wound healing process. Nurses involved in the survey does not have enough knowledge concerning the nutritional assesment of the patients with the chronic wounds. The Mini Nutritional Assesment could be modified in the wound management also as an manual for following wound and nutriotional care.
