Grid Library in Python
Petra Jírů
Abstract
Abstract
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to develop a Python library for working with regular and semi-regular grids. The library enables generating grids within a specified range, visualising them, indexing their cells, and assigning cell's values.
Thesis description
The goal of this thesis is to design and implement a Python library for the representation and manipulation of regular and semi-regular grids. The library should provide flexible grid generation, visualisation, and data assignment functionalities while supporting various types of tilings.
Namely, it should support all three types of regular grids and all eight types of semi-regular (Archimedean) grids. It will provide the ability to generate a grid covering a rectangular area as a list of edges (for visualisation), a list of polygons (cells) and a list of cell centres. It will be possible to assign a numerical or vector value (e.g., RGB colour) to cells and enable filtering based on the assigned values. It will also provide support for cell indexing and the generation of neighbour sets of a given cell.
The expected outcome is a functional Python library that allows easy creation, manipulation, and visualization of various grid types, well-documented code with usage examples and a demonstration of grid-based data processing and visualization.
