Anotace

Cieľom práce bolo analyzovať a vylepšiť systém vzdialenej správy používaný firmou DAITE, s.r.o. na ovládanie stoviek počítačov po celom svete. Kritika sa sústredí hlavne na bezpečnosť a jednoduchosť správy systému, ale zameriava sa aj na správnosť použitia, či právne otázky. Výsledná sada softvéru je zdokumentovaná a prispôsobená tak, aby bola vhodná na zverejnenie pod otvorenou licenciou. Práca taktiež obsahuje rozsiahly výskum vrámci možných alternatív.

Abstract

The goal of this thesis is to analyze and enhance the remote management system currently used by company DAITE, s.r.o. to control hundreds of computers around the world. The scrutiny is mainly aimed at security and manageability, but proper use and legal questions are also of concern. The resulting suite is adjusted and documented to make it suitable for releasing with an open-source license. The thesis also includes extensive research on possible alternative software and services.

Zadání práce

The goal of this thesis is to analyze and enhance the remote management system currently used by DAITE to control 100+ systems around the world. The scrutiny is mainly aimed at security, but legality, proper use and protection from insiders are also of concern. The resulting tools are adjusted and documented to make them suitable for releasing as an open-source.

A company is providing support for its installations on various venues under different conditions. The student will do the following:

  1. Describe the setup and requirements from the company.
  2. Describe the current approach to remote management, analyze it and scrutinize from a security perspective as well as per potential legal issues and resilience to misconduct from insiders.
  3. Based on the scrutiny, design enhancements and implement them to the system.
  4. Create a policy and documentation and make the toolset ready for the open-source release.
