Zadání práce
This thesis is concerned with attitudes and views of science, technology, engineering, and math students on one established and one proposed model for English language teaching. The established model is English as a foreign language, and the proposed model is English as a lingua franca. The English as a lingua franca model has been proposed to address the issue of teaching English in the world where it is more likely that English is used in communication between non-native speakers rather than with native speakers. Therefore, choosing the most appropriate model for teaching English requires more consideration which should take into account attitudes and views of learners. The aim of the thesis is to discover what attitudes and views students of science, technology, engineering, and math have on the topic. A questionnaire was designed for this purpose. The thesis contributes to a developing field of study on English as a lingua franca.
