This diploma thesis focuses on the translation and linguistic analysis of selected short stories from the anthology I’m With the Bears: Short Stories from a Damaged Planet. Special attention is paid to the translation of non-finite clauses. The thesis consists of a practical part, including the English–Czech translation, and an analytical part dealing with translation theory and methods, and individual types of non-finite clauses, followed by the analysis of selected examples. It also includes a data overview of the frequency of non-finite clauses, their functions and translation methods used.
