This thesis builds upon prior research on performance anomaly detection in microservice systems. It designs and implements an extensible evaluation platform in Quarkus that orchestrates microservice benchmark deployments, workload execution, observability data collection, and the execution of multiple anomaly detection algorithms, including a newly integrated one. The objectives of this thesis are as follows:
- Develop a platform for evaluating microservice performance anomaly detection algorithms, elaborating on the design decisions.
- Address the main limitations of the previous thesis in terms of implementation (e.g., creation of containers for easy deployability).
- Introduce additional (potentially also unsupervised) algorithms to show how new algorithms can be added to the platform.
- Demonstrate the platform by conducting a large-scale experimental evaluation to compare the implemented algorithms for anomaly detection.
