Stress and intelligibility: Pronunciation of Secondary School Students of English
Abstract
Abstract
The present thesis deals with the importance of suprasegmental features, namely stress, in the intelligibility of speakers. The thesis is divided into two sections. The theoretical section provides linguistic background for the research. It is concerned with word and sentence stress, rhythm and teaching stress in particular. The practical section subsequently analyses the questionnaires obtained from a native speaker who evaluated the students' recordings.
