This Bachelor’s thesis deals with the influence of video games on the English pronunciation of native Czech speakers. In the theoretical part, the work is devoted to a short description of phonetics and phonology, systems of both Czech and English, typical pronunciation errors of Czech users of English, and the theory of video games and their implementation in education (game-based learning). The analytical part includes a questionnaire about the language background of all respondents and analyses the recordings of words occurring in the video game environment selected for the research from the perspective of all speakers and the subsequent analysis of inaccuracies. The main goal of the thesis is to find out whether playing video games has an effect on correct English pronunciation or not.
