Failures of EULEX in Kosovo Abstract After the conflict in Kosovo in 1999, European Union was a major contributor with the tendency to build a democratic society in Kosovo. European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo it is present since 2008 when Kosovo declared the independency. EULEX is an ongoing mission which operates in three fields: Justice, Police and Customs. This thesis aims to give an extensive outlook about the role of this mission, assistance given in role of low in Kosovo, and its obstacles and challenges in fields mentioned above. In order to ménage this goal I will try to bring observations and evaluations from three different parties: representatives of EULEX, civil society and representatives of government. I will try to be objective and to discover the role of this mission and if it has failed why this mission failed and in which fields, which are the main obstacles that lead to these failures. Methodology of Research: In order to reach this research thesis, will be used qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative method corresponds in analyzing books, reports, journals, scholars, academic sources about the role and contribution of EULEX mission in Kosovo. Quantitative method consists in realizing interviews which will be divided in three parts: representatives of EU mission in Kosovo, representatives of Kosovo’s government and civil society representatives in Kosovo. Key questions which I will attempt to answer are: achievements in report with failures, the reasons of the failure, and in which fields EULEX failed (is failing). Literature 1.
