Kryptomeny nedávno zaznamenali veľký nárast popularity, čo sa prejavilo aj v náraste počtu súvisiacich škodlivých aktivít. Cieľom tejto práce je preskúmať tieto aktivity a navrhnúť metódu ich detekcie založenú na ich sieťových charakteristikách, získaných zo sieťových tokov. Cryptocurrencies got very popular recently, and this popularity also resulted in an increase in related malicious activities. Zadání práce
Mining of cryptocurrencies is a current trend of monetization of malicious activities. The victim usually does not know her computer is infected and only observe performance drop or strange heating. To effectively protect network and users against mining malware, it is necessary to detect such activities and react to them. The goal of this thesis is to propose a detection method based on passive network monitoring and implement in the university network.

The tasks of this thesis are the following:
  • Study the current coin mining activities (intentional farming, mining scripts on websites, mining botnets, etc.).
  • Describe the behavior of different mining protocols and their traffic characteristics.
  • Propose a method to detect such activities using passive network monitoring with IPFIX technology.
  • Test the method on data from Masaryk University network and evaluate its performance.
