- Abstract
- The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the work of a physiotherapist in professional workplaces, etc. supervision of a physiotherapist to work directly with the patient to get used to teamwork. Student keep a record of diagnosis and surgery, which in practice was conducted.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- work as a member of the medical team in rehabilitation institutes and centers, specialist medical institutions and social care institutions;
- practical application of basic diagnostic-therapeutic procedures in rehabilitation treatment;
- reflecting on the short and long term goals of therapy;
- a separate scientific record of the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

They will get acquainted with the operation and specifics of the given medical facilities. - Key topics
Introduction to the individual departments of the institute or social care facility, and orientation to the staff
Introduction to the possibilities for clients’ education and developmental support (therapeutic interventions such as workshops — ceramics, basketry, textile crafts, etc.; hippotherapy, animal-assisted therapy, occupational therapy)
Introduction to the physiotherapy department facilities (physical therapy, equipment, positioning aids, orthotics and prosthetics, mobility aids)
Familiarization with various types of therapy according to diagnosis — practical demonstrations by multiple physiotherapists (observational practice)
Client transfer techniques — demonstrations, assisted practice, and, depending on the complexity of the situation, independent student involvement (partial or full assistance to clients during transfers and physiotherapy-related ADLs)
Demonstration and independent performance of neurological examinations of clients
Independent management of individual or group therapy sessions — initially under supervision, later independently
Clinical practice across different patient age groups (e.g., pediatric placements — specifics of communication, assessment, and physiotherapy for pediatric patients)
