Abstract
The main objective of the course is to systematically develop students' abilities for effective planning, leading, managing, and evaluating the educational process in physical education. As part of achieving this objective, the course actively supports reflection on acquired knowledge and skills, their analysis and synthesis in solving problem situations, and discussions about specific impacts on students' own pedagogical practice. In cooperation with other specialized pedagogical subjects, and especially with teaching practice, this course supports the development of professional competencies of physical education teachers.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student:
- define the subject of didactics as a scientific discipline and include the Didactics of Physical Education in the structure of pedagogical sciences;
- describe the relationship of Didactics of Physical Education to pedagogy, general didactics, special didactics and related scientific disciplines, especially kinanthropology, psychology and some biological sciences;
- identifies key moments in the historical development of Physical Education as a school subject in Czech schools;
- describe the main features of contemporary Czech education policy with a focus on the construction of the curriculum of primary and secondary education and relevant key curricular documents;
- in the curriculum of lower and higher secondary education, identifies educational areas involving Physical Education, analyzes their content and implements them in the educational process;
- formulates specific partial educational objectives;
- identifies individual elements of the educational process (pupil, teacher, curriculum, conditions of the education) and defines their reciprocal relationships;
- explain how the course of the educational process can influence the teacher's personality and the pupil's personality;
- identifies possible factors influencing the motivation to learn and the principles of effective communication between the teacher and the pupil;
- classifies teachers' teaching styles and pupils' learning styles;
- determine the factors influencing the choice of subject matter, teaching practices, teaching and diagnostic methods, criteria for evaluation and organizational forms of teaching;
- within the mediation of the subject matter interprets the procedures referred to as didactic analysis, didactic transformation and didactic reconstruction;
- according to the set educational objective, selects a suitable teaching style or a specific didactic form;
- describe the structure of the lesson and define the objectives of its individual parts depending on the realized content;
- assess the importance of didactic principles for the course of the educational process and the possible impacts on its results;
- differentiate individual types of sensorimotor learning and define its phases;
- assess the importance of self-assessment for the development of the pupil;
- explain the connection between the educational objective and the evaluation of the outcome of the educational process;
- interpret the functions of criterial evaluation and feedback and assess the quality of such evaluation;
- consider the positives and negatives of the most commonly used forms of assessment in Physical Education;
- deduce the impacts of conditions and environment on the educational process;

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Lectures, discussion methods, individual and group teaching, working with texts, situational method, problem-solving method, critical thinking, brainstorming.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Fulfillment of the attendance requirement in accordance with the valid Study and Examination Regulations and the instructions provided in the interactive syllabus is mandatory. Students who don’t meet the attendance requirement will not be allowed to complete the course. The level of student participation in compulsory classes is linked to additional assessment rules, which are described in detail in the interactive syllabus. Other assessment methods include formative feedback on assigned partial tasks and the portfolio task, a written knowledge test, and an oral examination.
