Course objectives
The goal of the course is to equip the students with the contemporary knowledge of the theories of organisation and management. They should understand the processes in organisation and gain pre-requisites of effective designing and implementation the programmes of social interventions and to the adequate performance of the managerial roles in their professions.
Learning outcomes
after completing the course the student - understands the general processes which are happening in organizations - in particular he understands the links between influencing the activities of people in organisations and the broader contexts - is able to analyse the managerial strategies - is able to formulate recommendations for management in organisations - is prepared for managerial roles
Syllabus
  • 1. Organisation and management theory: traditional and alternative conceptions of organisation, the nature of managerial work 2. The process of socialization and learning in the organization 3. Tools of strategic analysis and processes of decision making, planning and control in relation to organizational problem solving 4. Organisational design and structure, communication networks and employee behaviour 5. Organizational climate and culture, diagnosis and change of organizational culture 6. Organisational power, influence, politics and organisational communication processes 7. Leadership and authority in the organization 8. Leadership of individuals: values, attitudes and motivations 9. Leading and coordinating groups and teams, group relations and inter-organisational cooperation 10. Conflict management and negotiation 11. Individual and organisational development: personal growth and change, career development, change and innovation management, organisational development 12. Management ethics and social responsibility 13. Contemporary organisational context: globalisation, diversity and flexibility
