Course for the students of the Faculty of Social Studies. Minimum level of Spanish B1+/B2 according to CEFR.

Course objectives
Development of academic skills and professional language designed for the students of the Faculty of Social Sciences; reaching the level B2 according to CEFR.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to: - present a brief academic presentation on a topic in their field of study and lead an academic debate - write the summary of a presentation and a text on specific topics - write the argumentative text about a controversial topic
Syllabus
  • The thematic axis of the course is based on the social sciences, the concrete themes will be set according to the preferences and needs of the participants of the course.
  • Language, academic and other skills to be developed:
  • essay writing
  • reasonning
  • argumentation (arguments and examples)
  • oral presentation techniques
  • self-reflective writing

La evaluación de la asignatura se basa en la evaluación portafolios (serie de tareas a lo largo del semestre) y tareas finales en el período de exámenes. Participación activa durante todo el semestre (70% de asistencia).

The evaluation of the subject is based on portfolio evaluation (series of tasks throughout the semester) and final tasks in the exam period. Active participation throughout the course (70% attendance).
