- Course objectives
- Lessons at the pool:
1. To learn basic swimming skills and methodology of swimming lessons.
2. Understand and apply the principles of movement in the aquatic environment for therapeutic and restorative purposes.
3. Learn to use the aquatic environment to compensate for movement imbalances and promote psychological relaxation.
4. To be able to design and lead an exercise unit with different objectives (regeneration, mobilisation, strengthening, compensation).
5. To be familiar with the methodology of swimming and exercise for people with specific needs.
6. Practice rescue of a drowning person - Learning outcomes
- The student is able to apply after finishing the subject:
- Demonstrate the knowledge of the basic swimming skills and the correct technique of swimming breaststroke, backstroke and crawl.
- Characterize the basic concepts and patterns of exercises in the aquatic environment.
- Apply various forms of exercise in shallow and deep water without tools and with the use of water aids. - Syllabus
- Part A - Teaching swimming skills and movement in the water:
- 1. Basics of movement in water - body position, breathing into the water, perception of water resistance, orientation in the water environment, floating.
- 2. Basics of swimming style - kraul, sign.
- 3. Fundamentals of breaststroke swimming style.
- 4. Swimming aids and their use - plates, swimming paws, fins.
- 5. Adaptation of swimming for people with disabilities.
- 6. Rescuing a drowning person.
- Part B - Exercise in the water and recovery techniques:
- 1. Principles of physical activities in water - Halliwick method, properties of water and their use in therapy.
- 2. Regeneration techniques without aids - breathing, relaxation, mobilization, relaxation.
- 3. Aquafitness without aids - movement in water using resistance, improving mobility, compensation.
- 4. Aquafitness with aids - bands, gloves, foam rollers, weights - strengthening and lightening the load.
- 5. Aquaerobics with music - rhythmization of movement, motivation of clients, specifics according to the target group.
- 6. Student-led mini-lesson - output focused on an exercise unit with a specific goal (e.g. recovery, compensation).
