- Course objectives
- At the end of this course, students: have basic skills in thanatology, should be oriented in the problems of the origin of a lot of kinds of injuries and sudden death, have basic skills in forensic toxicology, genetics and serology including their using in practice, should be oriented in medical and criminal law in medicine, should be able to examinate dead person
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course the student will be able to:
- understand and describe the system of Forensic Medicine service in the Czech Republic, especially the autopsies;
- understand and identify basic injury mechanisms due to external factors and poisons;
- understand the course of changes after death on the human body;
- understand the relations between medical workers and prosecuting authorities - Syllabus

- Teaching methods
- Practical lectures are organized in week-blocks and are focused on presenting the Forensic Medicine as a multidisciplinary subject, covering general and specialized questions of Forensic Medicine and Medical Legislation. During the lectures, illustrative cases are reported to students using photographs and video records. Current cases are demonstrated directly at the autopsy room. Lectures are focused on the basics of Forensic Medicine and laboratory methods, such as histology, serology, toxicology and molecular biology.
