- Prerequisites
- aVLBI0222p Medical Biology II - lect. || aZLBI0222p Biology II-lect.
Students need to have cell biology knowledge at the level of 1st year of university, proven with an exam (aVLBI0222p, aZLBI0222p or Bi1700en). - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
The capacity limit for the course is 40 student(s).
Current registration and enrolment status: enrolled: 6/40, only registered: 0/40 - fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Dentistry (programme LF, M-DENT)
- General Medicine (programme LF, M-GM)
- General Medicine (eng.) (programme LF, M-VL)
- Dentistry (eng.) (programme LF, M-ZL)
- Course objectives
- Upon completing the course, students will gain a clear understanding of the key methods used to image and analyze cells and molecules, along with practical experience applying these techniques. They will visit laboratories and become familiar with instruments such as fluorescent microscopes with confocal imaging, flow cytometers, and other advanced imaging tools used to visualize biomolecules in cells and tissues. The course will cover the principles and applications of these methods, providing students with insight into how they are used in biomedical research and modern medicine. By the end of the course, students will be able to interpret basic results from these techniques and will have a deeper appreciation of how modern biology studies complex biological systems.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will understand the principles and potential applications of the methods covered in the course, gaining deeper insight into how modern biological systems are studied. They will develop an awareness of how these techniques are used in biomedical research and contemporary medicine, and will be able to interpret basic results produced by these methods.
