Course objectives
The objective of the practical exercises and seminars from pathological physiology is to provide students basic idea about experimental work during pathological conditions (diseases).
Syllabus
  • Practical excercises:
  • 1. Experimentally induced peptic ulcer in laboratory animal and quantification of gastric juice secretion after its pharmacological manipulation in laboratory animal.
  • 2. Eating disorders (seminar).
  • 3. Experimentally induced anaphylactic response in laboratory animal(1st part).
  • 4. Effect of selected pharmacologically active substances on microcirculation in laboratory animal.
  • 5. Experimentally induced anaphylactic response in laboratory animal(2nd part).
  • 6. Experimentally induced diabetes mellitus in laboratory animal – principles of diagnostics by glucose tolerance test.
  • 7. Experimentally induced venous thrombosis in laboratory animal.
  • 8. Use of enzymes as diagnostic markers – evaluation of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymes by agarose gel electrophoresis.
  • 9. Experimentally induced haemolytic, hepatotoxic and obstruction hyperbilirubinemia/jaundice in laboratory animal.
  • 10. Endocrinology seminar, repetition, credits
Literature
Assessment methods
Practical exercises are compulsory (absence can be excused only in case of sick leave). During the term, tutors can continuously test knowledge in written tests or students can be asked to elaborate special papers.Term tuition (blocks) is completed by credit, conditions for awarding credit are: i) participation in the practical exercises, ii) elaboration of protocols from experimental practical exercises, iii) further individually chosen tutor's criteria.
