Course objectives
After this course will be able to define a term clinical orthoptics. Student will have a theoretical and practical knowledge of orthoptic and pleoptic procedures suitable for particular types of binocular vision defects in children and adults. Student will be able to perform basic differential diagnosis, he/she will be able to plan orthoptic treatment programme in terms of the therapeutic methods selection and the time schedule, he or she will have the knowledge required for setting control parameters for monitoring the effectiveness of therapy and for stating the prognosis. Student will have a basic knowledge of how his or her treatment plan communicate with cooperating strabismologist and parents, resp. with the patient.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to define a term clinical orthoptics. Student will have a theoretical and practical knowledge of orthoptic and pleoptic procedures suitable for particular types of binocular vision defects in children and adults.
Syllabus
  • Exercise Dominant component of teaching. It is organized as multicentric and individuall training in orthoptic clinics. Following the topics discussed in the theoretical teaching, the approaches of the clinical ortoptic and pleoptic will be demonstrated and practiced. Students will be encouraged to be self-reliant.
