Course objectives
Strabology deals with single binocular vision disorders which can be clinically described as squint. Particular emphasis will be given to rehearsal of topics presented in Strabismology lectures - clininical signs, patophysiology, diagnostics a and treatment of the ocular motility disorders.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to define particular types of strabismus, its etiology,symptoms and diagnosis including further therapeutics approach suggestions at the end of these seminars.
Syllabus
  • Anatomy of the oculomotory apparatus, oculomotory central regulation, an overview of the visual mechanisms. Strabismu spurius (etiology, classification, signs, therapeutic principles). Pseudostarbism (etiology, classification, signs, therapeutic principles). Concomitant strabism (etiology, classification, signs, therapeutic principles) - accommodative (refractory, non-refractory, hypoaccommodal, partially accommodating), non-pediatric (infantile, nonaccommodative convergence exces, secondary sensory, consecutive). Incompatible strabismus (etiology, classification, characteristics, therapeutic principles) - paralytic, nonparalytic (alphabetic, erroneous innervation, dissociated deviations, mechanical) ... Heterophorias (asymptomatic, symptomatic, intermittent, decompensated) .. Amblyopia (etiology, classification, signs, therapeutic principles) - Depending on the degree of reduced visitation, according to etiology (anisometropic, strabic, ametropic, meridional, occlusive ...) Francois and Van de Kerckh division, experimental amblyopia. Mechanisms causing amblyopia. The lectures are supplemented by the lectures of external experts from the area of strabology
