Course objectives
The course deals with some methodological procedures demonstrating permeability of intercultural education and language teaching: learning about different cultures, awareness of the differences, and ability to react to them.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, student is able to explain the relation between the aims culture and language, realize the cultural diversities and can react to them, apply the acquiered knowledges and skills at school.

  • 1. Culture and civilization. 2. Intercultural competence - different approaches and models. 3. Cultural choc, enthnocentrism and enthorelavitism. 4. Intercultural aspects in teaching foreign languages. 5. Pedagogical support and Council of Europe documents (ECML). 6. Analysis of textbooks of FSL. Intercultural aspects in the textbooks. 7. Intercultural communication competence development activities in the classroom.

Seminary, discussion, presentation.
Assessment methods
Active participation (70%), seminar work, presentation. Students of combined study are required to attend at least half of the consultations.

In case the student spends the term abroad, the student contacts the course teacher before departure to make arrangements: (a) whether the course can be recognised as a 'course for course' (in which case he/she will provide the teacher with a description of the content of the course that he/she wishes to take at the foreign university) and then informs the Erasmus+ Coordinator (b) how he/she will be able to complete the course individually during his/her stay abroad or upon his/her return.
