- Abstract
- The aim of the course is that the student is capable of interpreting compositions of different periods, with an emphasis on the ability to distinguish specific features of different forms of musical language. Furthermore, to acquire the ability to play styled accompaniment of songs, to create a prequel and a sequel to songs. At the end of this course the student will be able, on the basis of the established skills and habits in singing technique to give students the methodological foundations for the pedagogical work with the voice of children and adults.
- Learning outcomes
- The student is able to interpret small works from the world piano and violin repertoire of various eras, is able to improvise an accompaniment to folk and artificial songs. At the end of this course the student will be able, on the basis of the established skills and habits in singing technique to give students the methodological foundations for the pedagogical work with the voice of children and adults.
- Key topics
- Playing the piano: scales, chords, études, cadences. Interpretation of a musical work by L. van Beethoven: Sonatina in G major, 1st movement, or J. S. Bach: Prelude in F major, BWV 927. Instrumental accompaniment to 20 folk or art songs. Creation of overtures, interludes, and postludes to songs.
Playing the violin: scales, technical exercises (O. Ševčík), études by J.-F. Mazas and R. Kreutzer. Performance pieces (according to the student's abilities and needs): Baroque and Classical sonatas and concertos, shorter pieces from the Romantic period. Playing and accompaniment to 20 folk and art songs. Recommended literature: Ševčík, Otakar. Škola smyčcové techniky op. 2, seš. 1-2-Praha : Bärenreiter, 2014. The accompaniment to 20 folk or art songs. Vocal exercises: ascending chromatic modulation to all keys. The course includes a performance before a committee of teachers, during which the student will play one of the two compulsory pieces mentioned above and one folk song at a fast tempo. Breathing, articulation, and singing technique exercises, training in rib-diaphragmatic breathing, singing posture, training in correct tone production, pronunciation of vowels in the middle voice range, connecting consonants and vowels, exercises to induce head register tone, practicing singing technique on folk and art songs.

Playing the piano: student plays piano pieces (L. van Beethoven: Sonatina G major, 1st movement or J. S. Bach: Small Prelude F major BWV 927), accompaniment of 20 folk if necessary art songs with prelude, interlude, postlude. Violin playing: scales, performance piece, playing and accompaniment to 20 folk or art songs. Playing vocal exercises: up-scale, chromatic modulations in all keys. Homeworks. Duty to attend the classwork. practical and teoretical examination
