Abstract
The aim of this course is to: 1) enhance students' language skills and systems to achieve B2 level of the CEFR; 2) develop students' academic and professional skills (writing a CV and cover letter; giving a presentation).
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will be able to: - understand spoken and written texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - participate in spoken interactions dealing with relevant educational issues; - give an oral presentation on a specialist topic; - write a CV and cover letter; - use a range of specialist terminology with control; - show a good command of grammar structures at B2 level of the CEFR.

  • Grammar: past simple x continuous; present perfect; future forms; -ing x infinitive; modal verbs.
Study resources and literature
Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Group discussions; oral presentations; listening and reading tasks; grammar and vocabulary study.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Credit requirements: 1) attendance and active participation in class (max. two unexcused absences); 2) grammar quizzes (5 pts); 3) CV and cover letter (20 pts); 4) oral presentation (25 pts). Pass = 32.5 pts out of 50 (65% overall)
