Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to improve students understanding of family education in a broader educational context in relation to the subject Contemporary issues in educational theory. The emphasis is laid on students development of pedagogical thinking.
Syllabus
  • Topics Biological basis of parent and partner behaviour, the influence of culture on a family, family network and the concept of family in a society. The significance of family environment for childrens personal development, material factors in family environment and their impact on child upbringing, psychological-demographical factors in family environment and their impact on child upbringing, cultural-pedagogical factors and their impact on child upbringing. The starting points (strategies) of family education. Parents and family members as educators. The specific features of the role of a father, mother, siblings and grandparents as educators. Educational basis and means of emotional and intellectual development of a child in pre-school and school age; developing childs imagination and creativity, children games and toys. Child preparation for school, tasks and means of family education in the period of school age. The problems of parent-teacher and school-parent cooperation.

Teaching methods: homework -The course is finished by: finish seminar work, past exam written and oral exam of development knowledge
