- B1-level of English. The B1-level student can understand the main ideas of texts on both concrete and abstract topics and can discuss the topics related to his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with partners without strain for either party. Can produce an essay on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

- Course objectives
- The B2-level course in English is designed to develop both productive and receptive language skills. Special emphasis is put on the ability to analyse and comprehend special texts related to the social spheres. Active participation and discussion in regular consultations is required. Apart from that, the students work independently on special in-term assignments and get ready for the in-class presentation which is an essential part of the final examination.

- Consultation 1: Course introduction + entrance TEST. Home assignment: Text 1 - Immigration;
- Consultation 2: Hot social issues of today. Immigration. Multiculturalism. Ethnic minorities. Text 2 - Problem addiction. Work with addicts. Prevention; Home assignment: Text 2 - Problem addictions
- Consultation 3: Discussion - Problem addictions. Presentations: MS Power Point Presentations including the Analysis of individual special texts related to the field of study. Reading analysis worksheets to be submitted to Odevzdavarna in due time;
- Consultation 4: MS Power Point Presentations (cont. from previous Consultation);
- FINAL TEST - Level B2: January 2014. Part I - vocabulary and grammar e-test in a computer room, Part II - English texts analysis and expressing opinion in writing, Part III - Listening comprehension.

- E-learning, home assignments. In-class discussions. Inductive and deductive methods. Critical thinking. Projects - Presentation, three special text analysis (submitted in reading comprehension worksheets). Final PC test.
- Assessment methods
- Examination requirements:
1) Active participation in the in-class discussions
2) In-term assignments submitted in due time (3 home assignments).
3) In-class presentation (50% of the final mark). Pass limit 70%.
4) Final e-test in a computer room (50% of the final mark, pass limit 70%). Vocabulary and grammar revision. English text analysis plus expressing opinion in writing. Listening comprehension.
