In the compulsorily-optional English for Special Educators B, the students will continue to develop their language skills and some academic skills in English on B1 level. The English for Special Educators B course can be attended only by those students who finished the course English for Special Educators A successfully!

Course objectives
In the compulsorily-optional English for Special Educators B, the students will continue to develop their language skills and some academic skills in English on B1 level. The intermediate student (Level B1) should be able to understand the main ideas of texts on both concrete and abstract topics, with the focus on special discussions in his/her field of specialisation. He/she is able to interact with partners without strain for either party. He/she should also be able to produce an essay on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Teaching methods
Activities and tasks developing students' language skills and competencies, class and group discussions, grammar and vocabulary practice, presentations etc.
Assessment methods
Exam requirements: 1) Active participation in seminars and careful preparation for each seminar + attendance - 2 absences admitted 2) Written task – summary of an article connected to the field of study (announced in week 5), approximately 200 words 3) Mid-term test - revision of grammar + vocabulary 4) Oral presentation (week 10-13) - individual presentations based on students’ interests connected to their fields of study, app. 8 – 10 min. 5) Final test - listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary, writing It is necessary to pass the final written test for at least 70%. If you do not pass it for 70% or more, you have to re-sit it. The student who has not completed continuous assessment and all the requirements (including active participation) during the particular semester can not be credited!
