Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be alble to:
by own words explain the difference between form and method of teaching
by own words explain the difference between the clasification of teaching methods by Lerner and Maňák
characterize the individual methods of teaching according to Maňák
determine the teaching method
develop selected teaching methods for use in Natural History hour at elementary school
create a record from hospitation at Natural History hour
propose the use of activating methods in teaching of Natural History
Learning outcomes
- student is able to compare different approaches to classification of teaching methods; - student is able to distinguish different teaching methods; - student is able to clarify the difference between working with the atlas and the determination key; - student is able to clarify the difference between observation and experiment; - student is able to design particular method on the basis of experiences from exercises; - student is able to evaluate the importance of individual methods for teaching of natural history

  • 1) Teaching methods: definition of the term, classification of teaching methods by Lerner
  • 2) Teaching methods: classification of teaching methods by Mojžíšek and Maňák
  • 3) Classification of teaching methods by Maňák according to the didactic aspect: verbal monology methods
  • 4) Classification of teaching methods by Maňák according to the didactic aspect: verbal dialogic methods
  • 5) Classification of teaching methods by Maňák according to the didactic aspect: verbal methods-written work, work with literature (work with textbooks)

  • 1) Virtual hospitation at the Natural History lesson: demonstration of teaching forms and methods.
  • 2) Virtual hospitation at the Natural History lesson: how to create the record from hospitation.
  • 3) Verbal monological methods: Usability in teaching of Natural History, development of selected method for the Natural History lesson
  • 4) Working with literature: working with a textbook in a Natural History lesson
  • 5) Working with atlas in Natural History: available atlases, older atlases used, work with atlas, atlas evaluation
  • 6) Working with the destination key: key types, available keys, older keys used, work with determination key, evaluation of keys
  • 7) Observation in Natural History lessons: examples of observation in Nature History, proposal of observation for selected Natural History lesson
  • 8) Experiment in the teaching of Natural History: examples of short-term experiments, establishment of long-term experiment, design of experiment for selected Natural History lesson

written preparation of the materials in the "Portfolio of Beginning Teacher of Natural History"
presentation of selected method (micro-output)
a written test
Fulfilling requirements:
active participation in exercises (1 absence allowed)
micro-output (demonstration using of the selected method in the teaching of Natural History)
the correct execution of materials in the Portfolio of the Beginning Teacher of Natural History
passing a written test (gain of at least 75% points)
