Abstract
The goal of the course is to adopt the current concept of terminology in the area of pedagogy of people with autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome, the current understanding of genetic and metabolic disorders, the system of education of pupils with special educational needs in selected European countries, including inclusive education and personality of people with autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course student will be able to:
- have a general knowledge from the area of pedagogy of people with autism spectrum disorders;
- apply the approaches to the education and upbringing of children and pupils with autism spectrum disorders and Down syndrome;
- control of work with pupils with autism spectrum disorders at the level of teaching assistant.

1. Genetic disorders. Metabolic disorders. 2. Mental disorders. Schizophrenia. 3. Community forms of care for people with intellectual disabilities. Sheltered housing for people with intellectual disabilities. 4. Education of pupils with special educational needs in European countries. 5. Autism spectrum disorders (ASD). 6. Down syndrome (DS).

Seminar with active participation of students.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Active participation in class (80 %). Written test, for successful completion of this course is required 70 % correct answers.
