Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with intervention procedures that are appropriate to choose when working with visually impaired people. In the field of education, students will get acquainted in detail with special pedagogical support and support measures provided to children, pupils and students with visual impairments and MDVI.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- Understand the different types and degrees of vision impairment and their impact on the normal life of a person
- Know the counseling services and their further specification for the pupil's education period with a visual impairment
- Know the advisory services and their further specification for the adolescence and adulthood period
- understand the system of support for children, pupils and students with visual impairments and combined disabilities during school attendance and vocational training
Syllabus
  • Counseling and intervention for preschoolers and their families. Specific methods and supportive measures with regard to age, degree and type of visual impairment (school maturity, diagnosis of sensory perception).
  • Counseling and intervention for a school-age child and his family. Specific methods and support measures with regard to age, degree and type of visual impairment (support in the field of education and leisure).
  • Counseling and intervention for an adolescent child and his family. Specific methods and support measures with regard to age, degree and type of visual impairment (support in the field of education, vocational training and choice, leisure time).
  • Counseling and intervention for an adult with visual impairment and for his family. Specific methods and supportive measures with regard to age, degree and type of visual impairment (rehabilitation).
  • Communication with the visually impaired and their families, interdisciplinary cooperation in the support of visually impaired and MDVI.
