Course objectives
The course aims to deepen students’ understanding of the social and cultural dimensions of French language teaching and develop their ability to integrate an intercultural approach into their instruction. The course also introduces various assessment types in language education, with a focus on evaluating learners’ communicative competence.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to: • distinguish and explain the concepts of culture, civilization, and cultural stereotypes, • apply an intercultural approach in foreign language teaching, • design activities to foster learners’ intercultural competence, • differentiate and apply various types of assessment (formative, summative, diagnostic, authentic), • create evaluation tools for assessing communicative competence, • reflect on the teacher’s role as a facilitator of cultural understanding.

1. Defining culture and its dimensions, Intercultural approach in French language teaching 2. Cultural stereotypes and their impact on language perception 3. Formative and summative assessment in foreign language teaching 4. Assessment of communicative competence (criteria, rubrics, self-assessment) 5. Authentic assessment and alternative evaluation forms 6. Learner and teacher portfolio as tools for reflection and assessment

Teaching methods
Seminar, discussion, use of authentic materials, group work, case studies, presentations, video analysis, and work with cultural documents. Emphasis on connecting theory with practice and developing reflective teaching. Students in part-time study must attend at least half of the consultations.
Assessment methods
The final assignment is the creation of a professional portfolio, including: • a proposal for an intercultural teaching activity or lesson plan, • a sample assessment tool for communicative competence (e.g. rubric, self-assessment sheet), The project is submitted in print or electronically; oral feedback is provided during the final expert discussion.
