- Course objectives
- Objectives of the course:
- to teach students new strategies for conducting collections research in libraries, archives, museums and other cultural heritage institutions; to explain to students the importance of collections research and to acquaint them with the specificities that bring the different types of documents and different types of memory institutions into research
- understand how to explore collections of cultural heritage and collect information related to these collections and make them available for public presentation and use, research, education - control various methods for interpreting, displaying and linking information
- learn to critically think about the new role of libraries, archives and museums and other institutions of cultural heritage in our society
- demonstrate the knowledge of international and national legislation on the protection of cultural heritage and its implementation - Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
- Understand basic theory and issues of cultural heritage conservation
- Plan strategies for the protection and preservation of all types of collections and cultural objects
- Plan a strategy for the conservation of libraries, museums, archives and other cultural institutions
- Assess the relevant context of preserving the cultural heritage
- Describe basic attributes and formats of cultural material
- Identify the cultural needs of libraries, museums, archives and other cultural institutions in connection with their mission to permanently protect the cultural heritage
- Apply research results to the cultural needs of libraries, museums, archives and other cultural institutions
