Course objectives
The course offers an insight into the issues of inclusive education within the current educational system of the Czech Republic, including a comparison of how diversity issues are addressed abroad. By comparing inclusive trends in different educational systems, it will be shown that different approaches are used to solve identical problems. The ambition of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the principles of inclusive education at both the policy and practice levels. Additionally, the aim is to demonstrate to students how to work with students with diverse educational needs. The course will integrate theory with practice to equip students with both knowledge and skills for working in a heterogeneous classroom/group. At the end of the course, students will be able to explain the basic principles of inclusive education, have an overview of legislative measures and strategies for developing inclusion, and reflect on their own attitudes towards diversity and assess its impact on pedagogical practice. They will also be able to apply theoretical foundations when developing instructional strategies for students with diverse educational needs.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
- understand the theoretical concept of inclusive education, its principles, and values;
- know the legislative measures and strategies for developing inclusion;
- utilize elements of selected methods and forms of work in a heterogeneous collective.
