Course objectives
The main aim of the lecture is to acquire skills in reading and comprehension of Old Czech texts and to specify the period in which they had originated.
Syllabus
  • The theoretical part is focused especially on phonological and morphological development of Czech (ie from the 11th century to the second third of the 18 century). It also deals with Old Czech syntax, orthography and punctuation. The practical part is focused on reading, transcription and analysis of Old Czech texts from various periods. The texts are selected to represent the individual types of orthography used in Old Czech.
