Course objectives
Survey of the most important language taxons of Australia and Oceania. Discussion on their internal genetic classification. Illustrative descriptions of the concrete languages.
Syllabus
  • After the general survey of the languages of the Pacific region the languages of Australia, Tasmania, New Guinea, pre-Austronesian languages of Melanesia, Andaman archipelago and Indonesia, Austronesian languages of Taiwan, Philippinese, Indonesia, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia, plus the Ainu language from Hokkaido and Sahalin. The second part of the course is based on the presentations of students descripting the concrete languages according to their choice.

Typ výuky kombinuje ořednášku se samostatnou prací studentů. Kolokvium vychází z diskuse nad zpracovaným seminárním referátem.
