Course objectives
The aim of this practicum is to provide trainees with the opportunity to develop their classroom skills. Throughout the semester, they rotate their teaching with their peers and alternate the class with their trainers. With approximately 9 opportunities to plan and execute lessons and then obtain feedback from peers and trainers, the students are expected to have experience in teaching all four skills, plus teaching grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
Syllabus
  • The syllabus for this course is in fact the syllabus for the students the trainees teach. This is drawn up by the trainees after several meetings with the students with the aim of giving each of them the opportunity to plan a needs-based course for their students.

Teaching methods
The lessons are taught by trainees. They prepare their lessons in groups in discussion forums which the trainers follow and contribute as necessary. The lessons are observed by the trainers and feedback sessions follow.

Each practice teaching session the student gives is assessed. The results constitute a cumulative assessment.
