Course objectives
The course aims to line up an overview of the history of Czech cinema before 1950s. In five basic periods (cinema before 1918, silent cinema of the 1920s,1930s, Protectorate, cinema before ca. 1956). In each period we will place cinematography into political (organization of state administration and applicable regulations) and a wider cultural context (writing about film and public perception). In more detail, we will deal with film production, distribution and film introduction.
