Abstract

The aim of the course is to finish and submit the Master's thesis.

Learning outcomes

Master's thesis: the required length of Bachelor's thesis depends on its field and topic, yet a minimum of 140,000 characters is required. The electronic version is submitted to IS MU. The printed version must be typed on white paper (A4), pages should be numbered and bound in a hard-back. The title page which includes the name of the university, the faculty and the department, the name of the thesis, the name of its author and its supervisor and the year when the thesis was written is obligatory.
The Master's thesis also includes the author's declaration that the thesis is his work, the table of contents and the list of the works cited. The topics for Master's theses are assigned mainly by the teachers listed in the course catalogue. There is a public defence of the Master's thesis at the Department of Classical Studies, see the study regulations.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching

Individual tutorial. Examination of the plan of the thesis structure, introduction and methodology. Examination of particular analysis and conclusions.

Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements

Submission and defence of the Master's Thesis. Required parts of diploma thesis: synopsis, introduction, text analysis, argumentation and conclusion.

Téma magisterské diplomové práce je nutné zaregistrovat v IS MU prostřednictvím agendy "Rozpisy studentů". Termíny a povinnosti, které s diplomovou prací souvisejí, jsou uvedeny na stránkách FF: http://www.phil.muni.cz/wff/home/studium/informace/predpisy-a-navody/faq#predstatnici.
Seznam aktuálně vypsaných témat je uveden v rozpisu "Magisterská diplomová práce: Klasický řecký jazyk a literatura". Pokud studentovi žádné z vypsaných témat nevyhovuje, může se obrátit na jednotlivé vyučující podle toho, zda by se chtěl zabývat literaturou, jazykem nebo historií. Společně se pak pokusí najít vhodné téma. Je vhodné zabývat se volbou tématu práce s dostatečným (nejméně ročním) předstihem před plánovaným ukončením studia a vyhradit si na zpracování práce dostatečné množství času (tj. více než poslední semestr studia).
Práce se odevzdává do archivu závěrečných prací v IS MU a ve dvou výtiscích na Ústavu klasických studií (lze v koružkové vazbě). Termíny pro odevzdání diplomové práce jsou (zpravidla): 15. 12., 15. 5., 30. 6. podle toho, jaký termín zkoušky si student zvolí. Po odevzdání práce jsou do archivu závěrečné práce vloženy posudky školitele a oponenta. Student si je přečte a k obhajobě práce si připraví stručné představení práce a reakci na výtky obsažené v obou posudcích. Lze si rovněžpřipravit powerpointovou prezentaci.
