- Course objectives
- This course will be paired with Chinese V for extensive conversation practice.
Students have already covered the HSK4 content in Chinese V, so in this course, the teaching assistant will not teach HSK4 material but will assist students in extensive conversation practice based on HSK4.
Each group can also organize interviews according to their preferences, interviewing 2-3 teaching assistants or other native speakers on topics covered in the textbook. The content of these interviews may be submitted to the graduate student magazine. Interviews will receive assistance from the teaching assistants.
The goal of the course is to help students become familiar with Chinese conversation based on HSK4. It is highly recommended for students to enroll. - Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students should be able to:
- understand the main points of speech on familiar matters regularly encountered at work, school, leisure, etc.;
- understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency words or job-related language;
- deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken;
- enter a conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events);
