Course objectives
Practical language course in Italian taught by a mother-tongue Italian lecturer. The course is taught by using a communicative teaching approach with the use of original texts and other material in order to make students learn Italian language in use.
Syllabus
  • In the seminar original material and other material will be used, and the students will carry out conversation and grammar exercises. The vocabulary learnts during the lessons will regard houses, cars, health, restaurants. During the lessons students will read the detective story "Sostiene Pereira" by Tabucchi. As a follow up, a discussion will take place and a short oral presentation will be carried out by each student enrolled. A film will be shown based on the above-mention book.

Teaching methods
Lecture: exposition and definitions of basic terms and their exemplification on different types of specific text (recordings), proceeding from diverse registers. Seminar: application of theoretical knowledge on authentic texts (recordings). During their presentations students show their ability to interconnect on their own their theoretical knowledge and practical analysis of a specific text.
Assessment methods
The course finishes with a zapocet (4 credits). To obtain it, students must have the following pre-requisites: 1.Attendance of at least 75% of the course 2.Writing texts during the semester 3.Taking a final written test which includes a written task (a summary or a composition) and grammar exercises. The written test will be considered valid only if the students obtain at least 70% as a grade.
