- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is the analysis and the practice of basic morphological and syntactic phenomena of the normative Latin grammar necessary for understanding of self-contained Latin texts. At the end of the course students will be able to: demonstrate the knowledge of primary Latin grammar, read and translate the unknown texts.
- Syllabus
- Morphology: declensions, subjunctive mood, comparison of adjectives and adverbs, perfect system of verbs, pronouns, irregular verbs. Syntax: a subject accusative + infinitive, indicative subordinate clauses (reason, time and relative), direct questions.

- Assessment methods
- The active class attendance (75%), passing a final written test where the knowledge of relevant grammar is examined. The course grade is determined by the performance in a written test where the students’ mastery of basic grammar is tested through a translation of Latin sentences and through grramatical tasks (success rate of 65%).
