Course objectives
The seminar is aimed at advanced problems relating to stylistics, especially at analyzing texts which to a certain extent do not match with stylistic norms existing within the particular stylistic sphere, the attention being focused especially on possibilities of visualising the abstract notion of style.
Syllabus
  • Besides materials offered by the teacher, seminars will include students’ presentations (see also the credit requirements). Various kinds of manipulative texts and specific features of their style, such as advertising, political texts, religious texts etc. may be subject to analysis.

Teaching methods
The course consists of seminars which further develop students’ capability to apply theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired in the elementary course in stylistics.
Assessment methods
Besides regular participation in seminars (the minimum attendance is 80% in the term), students receive credits for at least one independent presentation of a chosen relevant material from the spheres dealt with in the seminars.
