The primary objective of Preparation for Czech Language Teaching I, the first out of three practical courses, is to connect propaedeutic and department-didactical goals. Systematically, the student has to deal with specific departmental teaching issues as well as the related approach to teaching, its circumstances and opportunities of teaching. Partial goals also belong in these fields.
- Learning outcomes
- Once the course is complete, the participant is able to:
critically evaluate the class they have been sitting in on,
work with pedagogical documentation (especially the FEP, SEP, class register, individual study plan),
be aware of the potential of interdisciplinarity in overall topics,
assess the job content of a secondary school teacher,
judge how to set and keep positive circumstances for teaching,
evaluate how to support pupils' learning through communication and apply the knowledge in classes,
suggest how to deal with a critical situation in school,
participate in the education process in different roles and situations (following, sitting in on a class, tandem, individual teaching, other activities),
explain the importance of a literary, linguistic, or writing class,
devise a class plan and compare it to its real-time realization,
set a realistic goal of a teaching unit and later assess whether it was reached,
perceive each pupil as an individual and to adapt the teaching circumstances to their needs,
assess advantages and disadvantages of specific methods and forms of teaching, and find a way to apply them effectively in practice,
use communication and information technologies fittingly to benefit the educational process,
perceive themselves as a teacher and accept this as their role. - Syllabus

- f) the attender plans how to use modern teaching technologies and tools in cooperation with the teacher
- g) the attender designs their own lesson in cooperation with the teacher

- Teaching methods
- Preparation for Czech Language and Literature Teaching I is one out of three practical courses which help prepare the teaching student for their future job. In sequence, the courses reflect the developing knowledge, skills as well as needs of students of education, therefore, the first course is focused on activities which let the student watch. During Preparation for Czech Language and Literature Teaching I, the student takes part in:
1) 12 hours (2 whole days) of following + 2 hours of reflection with the mentoring teacher,
2) 18 hours of sitting in on classes (3 days – each day with a different class, regardless of the subject taught, preferably in classes where the student will later work in other roles) + 3 hours of reflection with the mentoring teacher,
3) 4 hours of teaching on their own + 2 hours of reflection with the mentoring teacher,
4) 6 lessons of teaching in tandem (together with the mentoring teacher, another teacher or another teacher-to-be) + 3 hours of reflection with the mentoring teacher,
5) 20 hours of other activities at school (helping correcting essays, creating teaching aids, accompanying pupils during a field-trip, organising a project day / a field-trip / a tour etc., preparing school projects, attending class meetings, getting acquainted with pedagogical documentation, helping with school/class documentation, class lessons, standing in for a teacher etc.). - Assessment methods
- During the practice, the student keeps a record, which they later upload in Odevzdávárna. The student is also required to fill in the self-evaluation tool in the IS and hand in the required documentation as specified on https://www.phil.muni.cz/student/pedagogicke-praxe. Chosen parts of the teacher portfolio have to be uploaded as well: at least 1 plan of a linguistic/writing and 1 plan of a literary lesson, 1 plan of any other lesson (it can be a tandem one), 1 didactical aid (a working sheet, a game, a screenshot of an electronic aid etc.), an overview of activities the student participated in during their practice (any format, preferably an overview table).
